This was a charity dance in Lochgilphead, Mid Argyll, Scotland on behalf of the Mthunzi & Lilanda Initiative (visit their website here).

The number of folk attending was low so we couldn’t manage the larger set dances, but the dancers that were there were keen to be on the floor. We had a few guests up to sing a song and a special performance of an impromptu dance routine from a couple of eager little dancers. The night seemed to be a success (even though i didn’t win anything in the raffle) and we hope to be involved when the Zambian musicians visit Scotland in August.

I am beginning to think that we are losing our caller and gaining a demonstrator !! Do you know why he takes to the floor so regurlarly and so readily ?
Is it because acoustics make it difficult sometimes to call a dance through the microphone so people can’t hear ,people get confused etc…?
Is it because the chairs we get to sit on can be a tad uncomfortable ?
Hmm Na it is because the man absolutely LOVES dancing which is just as well since it always seems to rub on the rest of the audience .
It was a nice gig if a bit quiet but everyone seemed to enjoy it although I would have to say that the night belonged to a couple of lassies who were on the floor for most of the evening.
Despite the low number of dancers we pretty much had a full floor towards the end and Stevie was still playing with us !!

Look forward to Stirling next week .

Yeah the gig was a wee bit quiet but the crowd that was there certainly enjoyed it. The vibe is always there and that’s the main thing.
It’s sometimes good to be able to break it up and not have a solid night of dancing, and to mix it up with the occasional song or set of tunes.
It would be GREAT if we could share a night with some Zambian musicians. Could lead to some interesting fusion and even some new material!
It’s always good to be doing something for a good cause and I’m always up for it
